Natural Free Range Quality Produce

We believe in ‘real’ farming, free range, and real food. We think that animals should live in their natural habitat, with loving care and attention.

All our sea fish are caught on Day Boats, which dock at Brixham in Devon and are hand picked for us by Channel Fisheries, www.channelfisheries.com . Live Lobsters are sourced from a Mark Pender’s single boat from the Isle of Scilly, www.scillyshellfish.co.uk.

Live Crabs come from Torbay, and Scallops from Lyme Bay, Langoustines and Clams from the West Coast of Scotland. Crabs are cooked and picked on a daily basis here at The Harrow, whilst Langoustines, Lobsters, Scallops, Clams and Razor fish are live on arrival.  Our Loch Duart Salmon is ‘Freedom Food Accredited’ not organic farmed! www.lochfyne.com

A Taste of Wales

Our meats are from specialist farmers and butchers; and we are currently sourcing much of our meat from Barrie Jones, Lampeter, Ceredigion in West Wales.  Our new season milk lamb are sourced from local farms to Lampeter and include: Iwan Jenkins at Ty Llwyd, Mr Thomas, Capel Tydist, Bethlehem and Mr Morgan, Gerynant, Llandre, whilst our Pure Bred Heifer Welsh Black Beef is from Barrie Jones own farm at, Rhydybont Farm, Llanybydder. We are also buying some Limousin crossed with Hereford and Charolais crossed with Limousin from Capeli Farm near Lampeter.

Our 10 day hung Llanllwni Hillside Ducks are specially bred for us, and also come from West Wales, www.goetrefarm.co.uk. We also source some Welsh Cheeses including Celtic Promise, Perl Las and Perl Wen, www.cawscenarth.co.uk

Free Range Pork is from Kelmscott in Gloucestershire, and bred between a Hampshire Boar and Durock Cross, live 100% outdoors and are fed ad lib. The farm is run and owned by Christopher Maughan.

Pea Shoots are grown for us by Aconbury Sprouts near the Welsh Borders. Speciality mushrooms such as Enoki, Maitake, Shimeji and King Oysters are cultivated for us by  Fundamentally Fungus, Hampshire. www.fundamentallyfungus.com

We source our own Truffles (some 10 kilos a week) locally in the autumn – to much critical acclaim in the industry. Asparagus, vegetables and Summer fruits are from Highclose Farm, Hungerford.

Cream, butter, milk and yoghurt come from Guernsey Cows at Prosperous Home Farm, Hungerford. Cheeses are sourced from all over the West Country, Wales and a few from France mainly supplied by The Fine Cheese Company. www.finecheese.co.uk

We are proud to be members of The Taste of the West which highlights the high quality produce available from the West Country, and were delighted to receive their Gold Award this year for the third year running.

  Sample Menus

Whether it’s lunch (Wednesday to Sunday) or dinner (Wednesday to Saturday), The Harrow offers two tasting menus and an a la carte selection, plus at lunchtimes, an excellent value-for-money set three course menu including two wines.

We specialise in food and wine matching and so all our dishes are offered with selected wines by the glass to complement the food and accompaniments.

Tasting menus may be taken with the matched wines, or you may prefer to choose your own bottles from our extensive 900 bin wine list.

When choosing from the a la carte menu, again we have made your life easier by suggesting a glass of wine for each item, but you may wish to browse the wine list for your favourites or something new to try.  Please ask for advice or a taste of any of our wines by the glass.
